Diagnostics of Repairs

From the equipment file select the "TAB" marked Diagnostic. Then press the "Run Diagnostic" and the system will look at all the repairs within the last three years. Within seconds, the system will display the number of brake shoes that have been used, the last time the car was involved in a derailment, the dates of the last single car test, Brake Rod/Pin replaced, Slack Adjuster Replaced, Brake Beams replaced at each location. You will also see the number of wheel change outs by location for Thermal Wheels and for Flange Wheels.

The diagnostics are based on brake shoes where the quantity is greater than 16, Thermal Wheels changed where the quantity is greater than 1 and Flange Wheels changed where the quantity is greater than 1. If a problem is solved, there are three special job codes to use, 9105 for brakes, 9110 for thermal and 9115 for flange. When an analysis is made, it will be based on the last three years or from the time that a problem was resolved.

Based on the three categories and on other factors within the billing, the system will display up to 30 possible problems. Each problem will give you from one to 10 solutions to correct the problem. An example of one of these problems is:

If a car has a flange problem, (more then one change out at the same location where the why made code indicates flange), at location L1 or R1 or L2 or L2 and no flange repairs at all at locations L3 and R3 and L4 and R4, then the screen would display the following:

DIAGNOSE: "Possible problem with A Trucks" 1. CHECK for skewed truck or broken bolster 2. CHECK for low side bearing clearance 3. CHECK for mismatch frames
