Importing 500 Byte Data Exchange File

The system is designed so that you can import 500 Byte Data Exchange files. The purpose of this is for cars that were at another shop or railroad that is being moved to your shop or railroad. If the original shop or railroad created an estimate, they can download it into a 500 Byte Data Exchange File and send that to you.

Once you received the file, you would import it through the Utilities, Transfer Data, Import from 500 Byte Data Exchange.

The system would audit the file to make sure that everything is in the proper format, number where numbers should be and so on. It would automatically put your initials in as the repairing road, the current date as both the repair date and arrival date, zero out all charges, replace the SPLC with your SPLC and inform you when finished or if it finds any errors.

If there were no errors, then you must do 3 more steps to insure that your data is correct;

          1. Select Utilities, Global Changed, Quote Estimate, Hearder Information
              (a) Make any necessary changes to the Header Information and Save.

          2. Select Utilities, Global Change, Quote Estimate, Re-Calculate Price.
              (a) This will automatically recalculate the prices according to what you have in the
                  customer profile for this customer for all AAR Job Codes.

          3. Edit the Quote Estimate file so that you can enter charges for Rule 72 items and non- AAR
              items.
